Gophers Close Out Valspar Collegiate

PALM CITY, F.L. – The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished up play at Valspar Collegiate shooting a 291(+7) in the final round, bringing the tournament total to 872(+20). Minnesota finishes the tournament in 15th place.
Leading the Gophers at Valspar Collegiate was sophomore Ben Warian (71-71-70--212) and freshman Eduardo Galdos (67-76-73--215). Warian finished one under par with a team-high 13 birdies. Galdos cashed in his career-best round as Gopher in round one, shooting four under par in a round that included five birdies and one bogey.
Senior Will Grevlos (79-80-74--233) put his best round forth in the final round, shooting a 74 at three over par. Senior Lincoln Johnson (74-74-74--222) produced 11 birdies over the three rounds. Johnson owned hole No. 7, birdying the par-five on each of his three attempts. Freshman Bennett Swavely's (76-72-77--225) top round came in round two – his three birdies and four bogeys were good for a 72(+1) in the round.
The defending national champions (10)Pepperdine came away with the team victory. Pepperdine's Dylan Menante took home the individual victory.
The Gophers will return to the Twin Cities before heading to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Boilermaker Invitational on April 9th and 10th.
