Minnesota Drops Ranked Matchup in Lincoln

Gophers fall 1-6 to No. 67 Nebraska
On Saturday, the University of Minnesota women's tennis team took on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road. Each team came into the match ranked, the Gophers at No. 45 and Nebraska at No. 67. Minnesota was seeking their first win in Lincoln since 2014. They were unable to snap the streak of road losses, as they fell 1-6.
Nebraska won both doubles matches, and five of six singles competitions. Rachel Hanford earned Minnesota their point with a win at No. 2 singles.
In doubles play, Nebraska won at positions No. 2 and No. 3, securing the point for the Cornhuskers. The No. 1 match which featured Emilee Duong and Rachel Hanford went unfinished.
In singles, Rachel Hanford posted a victory at the No. 2 position. Her straight set victory over Isabel Gallego gave Minnesota their lone point on the afternoon. Nebraska earned wins at the remaining singles positions, despite strong second sets from Emilee Duong and Dalila Said.
Minnesota will look to even their weekend record when they resume play on Monday in Iowa.

Minnesota will continue their road trip on Monday, as they square off against Iowa. This will be the Gophers' second visit to Iowa City, having previously done so for the ITA Central Regional.
