The University of Minnesota women's hockey team prevailed over Harvard 3-1 on Friday afternoon at Medstar Capitals Iceplex behind an offensive attack that included 44 shots on net.
Ava Lindsay scored on the powerplay to give the Gophers a 2-1 lead in the second period, a decisive goal that gave a one-goal advantage. Abbey Murphy found the back of the net in the third period to close the door and propel Minnesota to a victory.
Fifth-year goaltender Lucy Morgan got the start in net for the Maroon and Gold, stopping 11 Crimson shots and allowing just one goal.
Scoreless through the first seven minutes of action, the Gophers struck first with a goal from Ella Huber. The Northfield, Ill. native found the back of the net off a feed from Abbey Murphy to get the scoring started.
Harvard evened the score at one with a powerplay goal just under 10 minutes into the period, but Minnesota bounced back with a powerplay goal of its own to regain a one-goal advantage. Freshman Ava Lindsay scored the goal, assisted by Audrey Wethington and Emma Kreisz.
While continuing to put pressure on the Crimson defense, the Gophers found the back of the net once more when Murphy scored her 50th career goal on a difficult top-shelf shot roughly seven minutes into the final period.

"Good game here today," head coach Brad Frost said. "We were able to control the puck and control the pace, which was great. Harvard defended really well and had good goaltending, but we're happy with the win and we're looking forward to playing Cornell tomorrow."

- Gophers have allowed one or zero goals in all but two games in 2023-24
