Minnesota Heads to Lincoln, Neb., to Play Washington State and Nebraska

The Golden Gophers hit the road for the first time since the end of January to compete against the Cougars, and kick off their B1G Ten slate versus the Huskers.

The University of Minnesota tennis program is set to travel to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to play Washington State on Feb. 18, and Nebraska on Feb. 19. Both matches are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. 

The Maroon and Gold competed last weekend at home against Marquette and Drake, where they tallied two victories to their overall record (4-2). The Gophers have claimed four straight wins as they head to Lincoln to jump start conference play. 

The Competition
Washington State has a 4-3 overall record, coming off a two-game win streak against Fresno State (5-2) and Cal Poly (6-1) last weekend in California. Nebraska is 5-1 overall, with its most recent sweep against South Dakota, 4-0, last weekend. The Huskers will also kick off their B1G Ten conference schedule against Minnesota this weekend.  

All-Time History  
Minnesota has met Washington State three times since the 2013-14 season. The Gophers are 1-2 against the Cougars over the years. The Maroon and Gold are 16-11 all-time versus Nebraska. The pairing first met in 1977-78, when the Gophers defeated the Huskers, 7-2, at Kansas.
