The Golden Gophers scored 19 runs, fall to No. 22/25 Baylor in extras

GAME ONE
WACO, Texas -
Junior Jacie Hambrick and senior Bri Enter combined to throw a shutout on Friday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers blanked the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions 17-0.

Hambrick (3-0) started and picked up the win for Minnesota (6-4), going three shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking none, and striking out one. Enter was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going two shutout innings, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out two.

Sophomore Taylor Krapf led the way offensively for the Gophers, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with two home runs, a walk and four RBI. Graduate Natalie DenHartog furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Senior Delanie Cox also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Minnesota with a home run, a walk and four RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Maroon and Gold took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Minnesota hit three home runs in the inning on the way to scoring five runs.

The Gophers then tacked on runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored seven times. The big hit in that inning was a grand slam off the bat of Cox.

The Gophers fell 3-2 in an eight-inning matchup to the No. 22/25 Baylor Bears Friday night.

Senior Autumn Pease (3-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (6-5). The right-hander went 7.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out seven.

Freshman Jess Oakland led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with an RBI. Sophomore Kayla Chavez furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Gophers first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Graduate Amani Bradley came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minnesota and get them on the board.

The Gophers kept the Bears off the board before tying it up in the seventh. Minnesota scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Oakland, which evened the score at 2-2. Baylor then scored one time over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 3-2 win.
