The Golden Gophers drop 4-1 to the Memphis Tigers’ at Baseline Tennis Center.
MINNEAPOLIS– The University of Minnesota tennis program (5-5 overall, 0-0 Big Ten) fell 4-1 to Memphis Sunday afternoon at Baseline Tennis Center.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the match after Tigers' pairing Aran Teixido Garcia and Emily Meyer defeated Gophers duo Zoey Weil and Zeyneb Sarioglan 2-6, in the first position.
In singles, Memphis earned points at the fifth and sixth positions as Minnesota did not have enough competitors to field the positions. Schmitz claimed Minnesota's first point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tigers' opponent Emily Meyer, in the third position. Memphis secured the 4-1 victory with Aran Teixido Garcia's 3-6, 3-6 win over Gophers Anet Koskel, in the first position.
