Gophers Set to Host NCAA Zone D Diving Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - Seven Minnesota divers are set to compete in their home facility as Minnesota is serving as host for the 2023 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships.
The Zone Diving Championships will be held at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, March 7-9. Admission is free for fans wanting to attend, while B1G+ will be streaming the event for free.
Competition starts Tuesday with the women on the 3-meter and the men on the 1-meter, while Wednesday will see the women on the 1-meter and men on the 3-meter. Both days start at 11 a.m. with the women's prelims followed by the men's. The finals take place 15 minutes after the men's prelims conclude.
Both the women and men will take to the platform for the final day of action on Thursday. The women are set to start at 11 a.m., while the men will begin at 3:15. Finals will once again take place 15 minutes after the conclusions of prelims.
Over the three days of the event, all seven Minnesota student-athletes will attempt to secure their bids to the 2023 NCAA Championships on the 1-meter springboard, while six will have a chance on the 3-meter and five will compete on the platform.

At the Zone championships, scores will be carried over into the next segment from the prelims, with 18 divers advancing into each respective finals session. The 12-dive total (10 for women's platform) will determine the final standings.
The top five female and top four male divers from each event at the five respective zone diving championships will be eligible to compete at the NCAA championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's contested or completed NCAA championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA championships in all events in which they wish to participate.
