Gophers Wrap Up Play at Tiger Collegiate

Ben Warian finishes in top-20 after three strong rounds

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota Men's Golf team finished its final round Tuesday at the Tiger Collegiate in Columbia, Mo. 

The Golden Gophers ended in 14th place with a team score of 10-over par (293-286-295–874). Fifth-ranked Illinois took home the win with a combined team score of 68-under (269-261-266–796).

Notable:
Junior Ben Warian continued to impress as he finished in 16th place overall with a score of 7-under par (68-70-71–209). He also was in the top five this week in par-four scoring with a score of 9-under par and average of 3.70 on the par-four holes.

Graduate Jacob Pedersen tallied four birdies in his final round, while also leading the team in birdies over the 54-hole tournament with 14. He finished his first spring tournament with a score of 3-over par (78-67-74) and in a tie for 50th place.

Senior Antoine Sale was one of only 10 players in the field to record two or more eagles over 54 holes, doing so on No. 10 in both the first and third rounds. He finished with a score of 8-over par (74-75-75), placing him in a tie for 62nd.

Sophomore Eduardo Galdos finished in 71st (77-75-75), and fellow sophomore Bennett Swavely was one spot back in a tie for 72nd (74-74-80). 

Up Next:
The Gophers close out the regular season next week at the Redhawk Intercollegiate in Fox Chapel, Pa. The two-day tournament runs April 17-18 at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
