Two Gophers Finish In Top 15 at Redhawk Intercollegiate

Warian and Pedersen cap off strong week in Pittsburgh.
MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Ben Warian finished his final round with an even-par 71, placing him in a tie for ninth place overall after the University of Minnesota Men's Golf team completed its final 18 holes Tuesday at the Redhawk Intercollegiate in Fox Chapel, Pa.
The Gophers finished in eighth place overall with a combined team score of 34-over par (295-298-293–886). Marquette took home the team victory this week at 20-over par (286-291-295–872).Â

"Our team battled hard in very tough conditions this weekend," said Minnesota head coach Justin Smith. "Certainly not our best performance, but we are super proud of the consistency and solid play from Ben (Warian) and Jacob (Pedersen)."
Notable:
Warian wrapped up the final regular season tournament with a ninth-place finish, and a score of 5-over par (73-74-71–218). He led the team with two eagles, and was second in pars with 32 and a score of 5-under on the par-5 holes.Â
Pedersen finished with an overall score of six-over par (73-74-72-219), placing him in 12th place. He led the team in scoring on the par-3 holes with a score of 5-over par and was second on the par-4 holes with a score of 4-over par.Â
Senior Antoine Sale and freshman Jack Wetzel, who was playing as an individual, both finished the tournament at 14-over par, placing them in a tie for 42nd. Sale led the Gophers in scoring on the par-5 holes at 6-under par.Â
Freshman Mason Roloff finished this week at 16-over par, putting him in a tie for 52nd place.Â
Up Next: The Gophers begin postseason play in just over a week at the Big Ten Championships. The three-day tournament at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J., runs April 28-30.
