Wrestling Signing Class Grows with Addition of Brett Swenson

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota wrestling program has announced the signing of Brett Swenson to a scholarship agreement, head coach Brandon Eggum announced Friday.
Swenson hails from Arden Hills, Minn., and Mounds View High School. He is the reigning state champion at 114 pounds in Class AAA last year after finishing as state runner-up at 106 pounds as a sophomore. He also reached the state tournament in his freshman season.
Entering his senior campaign, Swenson had a high school record of 122-19.
"Our staff is excited to welcome Brett Swenson to Minnesota Wrestling," Eggum said. "Brett's deep passion for the sport and his work ethic make him a strong addition to our program. His dedication on and off the mat, combined with his strong character and commitment to excellence, align perfectly with the values of Minnesota Wrestling."
The Guillotine has Swenson as the top-ranked wrestler at 127 pounds in Class AAA in the state.
On the national scene, Swenson was an All-American in 2023 for 16U as he placed fourth at the USA Wrestling Freestyle Nationals and sixth at the USA Wrestling Freestyle Nationals.
Swenson is the third signee in the Gophers' recruiting class, joining Evan McGuire and Charles Vanier.
