Minnesota Drops Two on Day Two of UNT Invite

The Golden Gophers fell late to Texas Tech, gave up one run to SFA
GAME ONE
DENTON, Texas - The Minnesota Golden Gophers took a 4-0 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 7-6 to the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday.
Freshman Jessa Snippes (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Minnesota (4-6) and took the loss.
In the batter's box, the Golden Gophers were led by junior Kayla Chavez, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk and two RBI. Sophomore Breezy Burnett furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-1 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Freshman Brooklyn Jones also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Minnesota plated a run on a based-loaded walk by junior Taylor Krapf.
The Red Raiders failed to push any runs across before the Golden Gophers built on their lead in the third inning. Burnett came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minnesota, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Golden Gophers.
Minnesota held Texas Tech without a run before building their lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning. The Golden Gophers added two runs when a single from Jones scored Burnett and sophomore Addison Leschber.
Minnesota kept the Red Raiders without a run before their offense got back in action the next inning. The Golden Gophers scored twice, with one run coming across on Chavez's 2-out single, bringing the Minnesota advantage to 6-0. The Golden Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Texas Tech scored seven times over the remaining one inning to grab the 7-6 win.

GAME TWO
DENTON, Texas - The Minnesota Golden Gophers were not able to record a run against SFA pitcher senior Aydenne Brown on Saturday and were shut out 1-0 by the Ladyjacks.
Senior Bri Enter (2-3) got the ball to start for Minnesota (4-7) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out eight.
Sophomore Jess Oakland led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minnesota did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Golden Gophers went 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the sixth, when senior Morgan DeBord made it into scoring position with one out.
