WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. - The University of Minnesota tennis program doubled-down on Saturday's conference-opening win with a 4-1 road victory over No. 48 Purdue on Sunday. This marks the first Gopher women's tennis victory over a Top-50 ranked opponent since Feb. 24, 2023, when Minnesota defeated the then-ranked No. 36 Utah Utes 4-3 in Minneapolis.

Following this weekend's wins against Indiana and Purdue, the Golden Gophers move to a 9-5 overall record and begin 2-0 in Big Ten conference play for the first time since 2020. Concurrently, head coach Lois Arterberry opens her Big Ten coaching career 2-0.

Quote from Coach Arterberry
"Couldn't ask for a better start to Big Ten play," said head coach Lois Arterberry. "The level of passion and fight that this team showed this weekend gives us hope to continue our success. We know it only gets tougher from here, but we are in it for the long haul. Overall, we had great efforts from everyone on the team. We will get back to work this week as we prepare for Wisconsin. Go Gophs!"

Coach Arterberry on Aiva Schmitz
"Aiva had a good weekend, showing up on not one, but two occasions to clinch both matches. She played very tough."
