Warian in Top Ten after First Two Rounds of Johnnie-O

MINNEAPOLIS - Senior Ben Warian leads the University of Minnesota men's golf team after the first 36 holes Monday at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island in St. Simon's Island, Ga.
The Gophers finished the first two rounds in ninth place with a score of even-par.
Notre Dame holds the top team spot at 19-under par, while Michigan State's Ashton McCulloch owns the outright individual lead at 14-under par.
Notable:
Warian tallied six birdies en route to a 36-hole score of 4-under par after back-to-back rounds of 70. The Gopher senior currently sits in a tie for ninth place overall.
After a round of two-under 70 in round one, junior Bennett Swavley carded a 74 in his second round to put him at even-par after 36 holes. Swavely currently is in a tie for 23rd.
Graduate senior Brock Winter finished his first two rounds at three-over par, putting him in a tie for 49th after 36 holes.
Sophomore Cormac Sharpe and graduate senior Jacob Pedersen are currently tied for 57th after the first 36 holes with a score of four-over par.
Sharpe tallied a 73 and 71 with six birdies in his first two rounds, with Pedersen carded a 70 and 74 for his first 36 holes.
Competing as individuals, junior Eduardo Galdos and freshman Kyler Schwamb stand in a tie for 43rd place at two-over par.
In his first tournament of the spring season, Schwamb recorded a two-under 70 in his first round, picking up four birdies total in his first 36 holes. Galdos finished the day with two consecutive rounds of one-over 73, nabbing five birdies in his first two rounds.
Also competing as an individual in his first tournament of the spring season, sophomore Jack Wetzel finished the day at nine-over par and in a tie for 80th place.
