The Golden Gophers are coming off a dual win over defending West Coast Conference champion Gonzaga in their spring debut March 10 and look to build from that performance. The Maroon and Gold are launching four boats on the water to battle against the Volunteers.

Earned a Weekly Honor
The Maroon and Gold's First Varsity Boat was recognized as the Big Ten Conference Boat of the Week March 19 after taking down Gonzaga by more than three seconds. It was the fastest time of the day, 6:36.46, from the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center and sealed the dual win over the Bulldogs. It was the first weekly award for the Golden Gophers since April 27, 2021, when the First Varsity Eight earned the same weekly award.

Last Time on the Water
Minnesota opened its 2024 spring schedule with a dual victory over Gonzaga March 10 by winning three of the five official races, which helped the program earn votes in last week's national poll. The Gophers' 2V8 boat tallied the largest victory as it won by nearly six full seconds and the V8 squad completed the sweep in the eights. Minnesota also won the 2V4 battle versus the eight-time defending West Coast Conference champion and an NCAA Tournament participant from 2023.

Minnesota Announces 2023-24 Captains
The Gophers turned to a second-year captain and two new leaders for its trio of captains during the 2023-24 campaign. Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) returns after serving as a team captain a season ago, while Madeline Lange (St. Paul, Minn.) and Tallulah Sweet (St. Paul, Minn.) join the leadership group for the Maroon and Gold.

Early-Season Scrimmages
After the season-opening Head of the Mississippi regatta on campus, the Gophers competed against the Badgers of Wisconsin in a pair of scrimmages. Minnesota hosted its border rival at home Oct. 14 before it made the trip to Lake Mendota Nov. 4 as the Maroon and Gold gained valuable competition experience.
