MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota track and field program sent its distance program to North Carolina State for the Raleigh Relays this weekend with a number of individuals setting personal bests across the 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10000m and the 3000m steeplechase.Â
On Thursday the Maroon and Gold saw Eli Hoeft post one of the best finishes for the Gophers during the weekend, clocking a 3:42.23 in the 1500m to finish 17th overall in the large field. Also competing on day one was the 5000m crew with Emmet Anderson being the Gopher's top finisher at 61st in a personal best time of 14:01.89.Â
Friday's action saw redshirt freshman Zoie Dundon post the No. 10 time in program history in the 3000m steeplechase. The Minnesota native was eighth overall in the four-section field and won her section in a time of 10:16.72, the fastest time by a Gopher since Taylor Kreitinger's NCAA Regional time of 10:16.37 from last season. Additionally on Friday Minnesota's Erin Reidy finished 29th overall in the 1500m in a time of 4:21.57. The night was capped off with redshirt freshman Ali Weimer in the 10000m, putting down a time of 34:32.81 to finish 22nd overall. Weimer's time puts her in range for a spot in the program's all-time top 10 in the event (34:22.50 or better).Â
On Saturday the 'U' started the day with Erin Reidy's 2:07.63 in the women's 800m, which put her 24th overall. Eli Hoeft later in the same event nearly matched his lifetime best in the 800m with a time of 1:50.99, which was good enough for 27th overall and 3rd in his section.Â
Minnesota's next outdoor competition will be on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station Texas, at the 44 Farms Team Invite from April 5-6.Â
