Two Gophers Finish in Top 15 at Colleton River Collegiate

MINNEAPOLIS - Sophomore Cormac Sharpe and senior Ben Warian led the University of Minnesota men's golf team to a top-five finish in the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C.
The Maroon and Gold (281-275-289–845) finished tied with Big Ten rival Michigan State(279-279-287–845) for fifth place at 19-under par.
Georgia Southern (272-278-282–832) took home the top team spot at 32-under par for the tournament. The Eagles' Brycen Jones nabbed the top individual spot at 12-under par.
Notable:
Sharpe secured his highest finish as a member of the Maroon and Gold, finishing sixth on the individual leaderboard thanks to a final-round 69. The native of Blairgowrie, Scotland, led the field in par-4 scoring at 6-under par, and was tied for second in the field for birdies tallied (15).
Sharpe also notched his third eagle in just his sixth round of 2024, doing so on the par-five 14th hole in the third round. He finished his tournament with a score of 10-under par (68-69-69).
Warian tallied his seventh straight top-20 finish with a tie for 13th this week. The Gopher senior finished with 12 birdies and ended the tournament at 7-under par (69-67-73).
Graduate senior Jacob Pedersen finished the tournament at 1-over par (73-69-75) and in a tie for 45th.
Fellow graduate senior Brock WInter was two shots back of Pederson in atie for 57th. Junior Bennett Swavely concluded his tournament at 7-over par and in 72nd place.
Playing as an individual in his first tournament of the spring season, sophomore Jack Wetzel placed 78th with a score of 12-over par.
