Two Gophers Finish Inside Top 15 at Git-R-Done Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS - Senior Bennett Swavely and freshman Chun-Ta Wu led the University of Minnesota men's golf team in the final round of the Git-R-Done Invitational in Lincoln, Nebr. on Tuesday.Â
The Gophers (295-284-283–862) finished the tournament in seventh place overall, with a score of 10-over par.Â
Sam Houston State (279-272-279–830) took home the top team spot with a score of 22-under par. The Bearkat's own Hugo Trommetter nabbed the individual title with a score of 11-under par.Â
Notable:Â
Swavely nabbed three birdies in the final 18 holes, taking home a final score of 3-under par (69-70-71–210). His ninth-place finish and his 54-hole score of 210 are now the second-highest of his career.Â
In just his second start of his collegiate career, Wu finished the tournament tied for 16th. Wu carded a 1-under 70 in his final round, to finish at 1-over par for the tournament (75-69-70–214).Â
Senior Eduardo Galdos concluded the tournament tied for 34th place. Galdos carded three birdies in his final round to finish the tournament at 6-over par (75-73-71–219).Â
Junior Cormac Sharpe (77-75-71--223) ended the tournament tied for 43rd with a score of 10-over par, with freshman Jack Crousore, who competed as an individual, finishing one shot behind Sharpe tied for 46th (74-73-71–224).Â
Junior Jack Wetzel concluded the tournament tied for 51st with a score of 13-over par (76-72-78–226).Â

The Maroon and Gold will travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the Badger invitational. The three-day tournament runs from Sunday, September 29th, and runs through Tuesday, October 1, at University Ridge Golf Course.Â
