Minnesota is 2-0 this season at home early this year, winning over Gardner-Webb and Alcorn State last week.
• Minnesota suffered its first loss of the year when it traveled to Columbia, Mo., and fell to the Missouri Tigers, 83-60, on Wednesday night. Despite a close first half, Minnesota was up 46-45; however, an eight-point possession by the Tigers sparked a second-half surge and the 83-60 final. Cade Tyson scored 17 points, while Isaac Asuma added a season-high 13. Minnesota outrebounded the Tigers, 34-25, mainly in the effort of Jaylen Crocker-Johnson's game-high 12 boards.
Cade Tyson's 22.7 points per game rank second in the Big Ten. He posted 30 points in his Gopher debut, 21 against Alcorn State and another 17 against Missouri Wednesday night. Tyson is one of five players in the Big Ten to score over 30 in a game during this early season.
Jaylen Crocker-Johnson recorded his third-straight game with double-digit rebounds Wednesday night when he had a game-high 12 boards. He's averaging 14.0 rebounds per game. He had point-rebound double-doubles in his first two games, with 13 points and 14 rebounds in the season-opener versus Gardner-Webb and 15 points and a career-high 16 boards versus Alcorn State. He has five career double-doubles.
• Minnesota held a 34-25 rebounding margin over Missouri on Wednesday. Over the season, the Gophers average 43.0 while holding opponents to 26.7.
