Minnesota Rallies for 9-6 Walk-Offf Victory over Miami (OH)

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --The Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-9, 0-0 B1G) rallied to score four in the seventh inning and walked it off on sophomore Jessa Snippes' four-run home run off of sophomore Madilyn Reeves to pick up the 9-6 victory over the Miami (OH) RedHawks (5-13, 0-0 MAC) Saturday.

Junior Presley Hosick (4-3) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minnesota. The right-hander went 0.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit. Junior Sydney Schwartz also made an impact in the circle for the Gophers, starting the ballgame and throwing six innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on four hits, with three walks and eight strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Gophers first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Minnesota hit three home runs in the inning on the way to scoring five runs.

Miami (OH) then rallied to take a 6-5 lead before Minnesota scored four runs in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the win, walking it off on Snippes' grand slam off of Reeves.

GAME NOTES

» The Gophers got two home runs off the bat of Snippes.
» Schwartz struck out eight RedHawks hitters.
» The Gophers power output was led by Snippes, who compiled two extra base hits in the ballgame.
» Snippes drove in seven runs for Minnesota.
» Every Minnesota starter reached base safely in the win.
» Minnesota's highest scoring inning was the fifth, when it pushed five runs across.
» Minnesota hitters hit four home runs in the ballgame.
» The Gophers out-hit the RedHawks at a 7-6 clip.
» Minnesota pitchers limited Miami (OH) to just 2-for-11 (.182) with runners in scoring position.
» Minnesota pitchers faced 34 Miami (OH) hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and four fly balls while striking out 10.
» The 'U' drew seven walks from Miami (OH) pitching.
» Snippes led the Gophers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBI.
» Miami (OH) was led offensively by senior Shelby Kunkel, who went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and two RBI.
» Reeves led the RedHawks pitching staff, throwing 6.1 innings of nine-run ball.

The 'U' will be back in action tomorrow. They will host North Dakota State and St. Thomas tomorrow starting at 11:30am. These will be the last games of the Gopher Indoor Classic at US Bank Stadium
