10/7/2009 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
The fall season continues for the Minnesota men's tennis team as the Gophers travel to Boston to compete in the Harvard Fall Classic Oct. 9-11.
Minnesota will play round-robin singles and doubles matches with Harvard, Notre Dame and Alabama over the three-day event. Play begins at 9:30 a.m. (Eastern time) on Friday and Saturday and at 9 a.m. on Sunday at the Beren Tennis Center.
It will be the fourth fall tournament for the Gophers, who have had success in singles, but have struggled on the doubles side. Minnesota's nine players have combined for a 28-17 record in singles matches so far this fall, while posting a 5-12 combined doubles mark.
Eddie Svenda has a 5-1 record in singles, while Sebastian Gallego is 4-1 with his first loss coming earlier this week in the ITA All-American qualifying event in Tulsa, Okla. Gallego will not compete at Harvard this weekend, however, Dino Bilankov is expected to participate despite reaching the third round of the ITA qualifying on Wednesday in Tulsa. Bilankov is currently 4-2 for the season.
Results of the Harvard Fall Invite will be posted at gophersports.com following the completion of play.
