Singles Play Starts At Regionals

After two rounds of singles play three Gophers have advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Region Championships.
Felix Corwin, Matic Spec and Ruben Weber all got past the first round via a bye. Jeremy Lynn advanced with a (6-4, 6-1) win over John Nogalski of Saint Louis University. Marino Alpeza's first collegiate match was a victory Oscar Pachon of SLU.
Corwin who has already been involved in some tight matches early this season had another one getting past Uldis Gaismins of University of Missouri-Kansas City (6-7 (5), 7-6 (2), 6-2) to get into the round of 32.
Weber cruised to a (6-2, 6-1) victory over Brandon Harris of SLU and Alpeza had his work cut out for him winning (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) over Tony Leto of Iowa. This sets up an interesting teammate battle of the senior Weber vs. the freshman Alepeza for a trip to the round of 16.
