Felix Corwin and Matic Spec are heading to the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships (NIIC) to compete in doubles at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. while Jeremy Lynn, Ruben Weber, Justyn Levin and Marino Alpeza head to Lakewood Ranch, Fla., for the Lakewood Ranch Invitational to end their fall season.

Dynamic Duo

The sophomore combination of Corwin and Spec only played one full doubles match together last year, but that did not stop them from ripping off five straight wins at the ITA Central Region Championships a couple of weeks ago earning a spot in the 20 team draw in the NIIC this weekend. Coach Geoff Young has alluded to their big serves and great returns as reasons why they have been successful as a double tandem this fall.

Both started the fall ranked in the top 100 preseason singles rankings with Spec at No. 38 and Corwin No. 98 after having big freshmen seasons. They both played in the ITA-All Americans earlier this year as well but their doubles success has been the highlight of the fall.

"We have had really good chemistry when we have played together," Corwin said.

Live scoring for the weekend can be found here with Corwin and Spec's first match set for 1:30 p.m. against Romain Bogaerts and Maskim Kan out of Wake Forest. The tournament draw can be found here.

Lakewood Ranch preview

While Spec and Corwin are competing in Lynn, Weber, Levin and Alpeza will all be competing at the Lakewood Ranch Invitational to wrap up their fall.

While Lynn and Alpeza were both taking part in the Big Ten Championships Weber and Levin were back here in Minnesota practicing with Spec and Corwin. With the extra practice they got together as a doubles pair the two will team up in doubles this weekend which could be something to watch for.

Levin is 5-2 in singles, Alpeza is 4-2 and Weber is 3-2. Lynn boasts a 3-2 doubles record.
