Gophers Host Invite to Finish the Fall Season

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will complete their fall season as they host the Gopher Invitational at Baseline Tennis Center Nov. 4 - Nov. 6.
Boise State, Dartmouth, Drake, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn and Wichita State will all be participating in the tournament.
Tournament Format
The first draw is a round of 16 that will have student-athletes play a double set followed by two singles matches versus the athletes they played in the doubles match. Each match victory is worth one point. The duo with the most points will advance.
The second draw will have two groups (Maroon and Gold) with four duos in each group. After a round robin format, the first place pairs will play each other while the second place, third place and fourth place pairs will play their counterparts from the other group.
Each match day will begin at 9 a.m.
Gopher Participants
The Gophers' full roster will participate at the Gopher Invite after a strong showing at the ITA Central Region Championships.
Marino Alpeza posted a 2-2 record in both doubles matches and singles matches at regionals. Felix Corwin picked up two singles victories and one doubles victory at regionals after a strong appearances at the ITA All-Americans.
Sophomore Josip Krstanovic picked up two singles victories in his first action of the fall and Justyn Levin also had two singles victories.
Freshman George Lovitt started off his collegiate career with two singles wins and one doubles victory. Senior Jeremy Lynn also had two singles victories.
Stefan Milicevic won his first two singles matches then won two doubles matches with Alpeza. Fellow freshman Eli Ogilvy picked up three singles victories and advanced to the consolation draw semifinals.
Matic Spec picked up five singles victories on his way to placing second at the regionals. He also had one singles victory with Corwin. Jesse Sprinkel picked up one doubles match victory with Lovitt.
