Spec Wins in Gophers 5-2 Loss

Matic Spec won his fourth straight doubles match alongside Jeremy Lynn and took a tough victory at No. 1 singles but the No. 45 University of Minnesota Gophers fell short falling to No. 40 Dartmouth 5-2 on the evening.
Minnesota has taken the doubles in six of their nine matches now as they won it again this evening. Dartmouth got on the board first with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot. Freshmen Josip Krstanovic and Justyn Levin move to 3-3 together with a 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot. Spec and Lynn are 4-0 together this season and clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot.
The lone singles win of the day came in form of the last match left on the courts with Spec coming back. He dropped the first set 6-4 but bounced back with a tough fought 7-5 second set victory. In the tiebreak Spec was able to come out on top winning 10-7 and is now 7-6 on the year.
Ruben Weber had his win streak snapped at the No. 2 spot. Weber is still an impressive 11-6 this season. Krstanovic got his second shot at the No. 3 spot of the season and drops to 1-1 there. Felix Corwin won his first set 6-4 but after taking a 6-4 loss in the second set retired in the third. Marino Alpeza fought back strong in the second set of his match but ultimately fell and Lynn took a loss at the No. 6 spot.
It will be a rematch from the ITA Kick-Off up next for the Maroon and Gold as they take on No. 16 Columbia. They will be looking to bounce back after a much closer than the scoreboard showed 4-0 loss earlier this season to the Lions.
