Gophers Win at Hawai'i

The University of Minnesota Gophers took a 6-1 victory over the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors putting the cherry on top of a already great spring break trip.

The Gophers have been working out in Hawai'i the whole week and ended with a strong victory tonight taking the doubles point and five singles.

All three doubles easily won with Josip Krstanovic and Justyn Levin taking the No. 3 spot with a 6-0 win. The duo is now 6-4 together this season.

Matic Spec and Jeremy Lynn took a 6-1 win at No. 2 while Marino Alpeza and Ruben Weber took a 6-1 at No. 1 moving to 7-7 on the year. Spec and Lynn have improved to 6-3 on the season.

Felix Corwin won the Gophers second point of the evening with a (6-2, 6-3) victory at the No. 4 spot. He holds a 10-9 overall record. Krstanovic recorded his fifth win of the season in a close (6-4, 7-5) win at the No. 5 spot.

The match sealing point came from fellow freshman Levin as he won (6-3, 7-5) at the No. 3 spot giving him 10 wins this season.

The Rainbow Warriors took a win at No. 6 before the Maroon and Gold finished off the day with wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 spots.

Weber went into three sets taking the first set 6-4 at No. 2 before falling in a battle of a 7-5 second set. He bounced back with ease winning 10-4 his 15th win this year.

Spec also went to three sets cruising to a 6-1 first set victory before falling 6-2 in the second set. In the last set of the evening he hung on to win 7-6 (4) winning his second straight match.

Minnesota is done with their nonconference schedule and get into B1G play next Friday hosting Nebraska at 6 p.m.
