Gophers Defeated by No. 15 Illinois

The University of Minnesota Gophers lost 4-0 to No. 15 Illinois on Friday winning one doubles match on the afternoon.
Matic Spec and Jeremy Lynn were successful at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-4. They bump their record to 7-5 together. The pair tied up the doubles competition, but the Fighting Illini took home the doubles point after winning 6-4 at the No. 3 spot.
Spec was not as successful in singles play, dropping his match to No. 4 ranked Aleks Vukic 6-4, 6-1. Spec falls to 8-8 at the No. 1 spot and 12-10 overall on the season.
Felix Corwin followed, dropping his match in two sets at the No. 4 spot (6-3, 6-2). He is now 2-2 at the No. 4 spot, and 10-11 on the season.
Ruben Weber lost the last completed match of the day (6-3, 6-1). Weber holds a team-best 16-9 record, holding an 8-5 record at the No. 2 spot.
Marino Alpeza,Justyn Levin, and Lynn all had their matches go unfinished on the day.
The Gophers have another tall task ahead facing No. 13 Northwestern at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
