Milicevic Clinches Another Gopher Win

Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of Minnesota improved to 7-0 Sunday as they won their first road match of the season 4-3 versus the University of Pennsylvania.
Doubles
The day started with Marshall Sharp and Gabriel Rapoport of Penn defeating Marino Alpeza and Eli Ogilvy 6-3. No. 48 Felix Corwin and Matic Spec then picked up a doubles win by beating Kyle Mautner and Matt Nardella 6-4.
The doubles clincher went into a tiebreaker that saw Minnesota's Stefan Milicevic and Jesse Sprinkel defeat Josh Pompan and Thomas Spratt 7-6(7) to put the Gophers up 1-0.
Singles
The Maroon and Gold were quickly up 2-0 after Alpeza made quick work of Rapoport with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Ogilvy continued his winning ways by defeating Spratt 6-1, 6-3.
Penn picked up their first point of the morning when No. 112 Mautner beat No. 42 Spec 7-6(0), 6-3 then Minnesota's lead was cut to 3-2 when Max Cancilla defeated Josip Krstanovic 7-6(3), 6-4. The match was then tied 3-3 with a Pompan 7-6(5), 6-4 victory over Corwin.
The final point was once again down to Milicevic who clinched the last Gopher victory versus Dartmouth. Milicevic fell in the first set 6-0 to Nardella but quickly rebounded by winning the second set 6-4. The third set went to a tie-breaker that saw Milicevic win 7-6(4) to seal the Gophers seventh straight victory.
