Minnesota turned in two All-America performances on Day 3 of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Matt Barnard placed seventh in 3-meter diving, and Conner McHugh was 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a school record.
Barnard earned his fourth career All-America honor. The senior scored 415.90 points to place seventh for the second year in a row in 3-meter. Alan LeBlang placed 43rd with a score of 280.95.
McHugh earned his first individual All-America honor and broke his own school record twice Friday. The junior placed 11th in 52.30. In prelims, he posted a 52.41 and was the only Big Ten swimmer to advance in the event. Eric Sande finished 22nd in prelims in 52.69.
Jakub Maly placed 21st in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:44.63.
The final day of the NCAA Championships will begin with prelims Saturday at 9 a.m. Remaining events in the meet are the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, platform diving and 1,650 freestyle.
