The University of Minnesota Men's tennis team is kicking off the 2018 Fall season on the road, with athletes heading to three different tournaments across the nation this weekend.
Junior Stefan Milicevic, who was listed at No. 45 in ITA's Preseason Rankings, will be headed to Malibu, Calif. to compete in the Oracle ITA Masters Tournament. The tournament features a 32-man singles draw, selected based on skill and conference representation, similar to the NCAA Tournament.
Milicevic will be facing Zdenek Derkas of Fresno State in the first round of ITA's premiere fall tournament. His match time is set for 3 pm local time on Thursday, and his match can be followed along through live scoring here.
The sophomore squad of Jackson Allen, Kaleb Dobbs, and Vlad Lobak will be joined by freshman Sebastian Vile in the Ivy Plus Invitational, hosted in Princeton, NJ.
Play in Princeton will begin Friday with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. Minnesota will be joined by 19 other teams including Big Ten rivals WIsconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, and Michigan State.
Allen will be looking to build off of last season after earning a ranked win in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, while Vile will be making his collegiate debut for Minnesota.
Lastly, seniors Jesse Sprinkel, Josip Krstanovic, Marino Alpeza, and Justyn Levin will be heading across the border to play in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wis. Play will begin at 8 am on Thursday, and the schedule of play can be followed here.
