No. 25 Gophers Home Again for Duals Against Wichita State, Western Michigan

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 25 University of Minnesota Men's Tennis Team will continue their home stand with duals against Wichita State on Friday at 6 pm and Western Michigan Sunday at 11 am. Minnesota (7-1) are on a five match winning streak, and are currently 5-0 at the Baseline Tennis Center.
TO-DO LIST
No. 25 Minnesota will face Wichita State first on Friday at 6 pm. The Shockers (4-4) are coming off a tough 6-0 loss to No. 15 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The Shockers are 0-4 against ranked competition, with losses to No. 3 Mississippi State, No. 13 Oklahoma and No. 20 Tennessee prior to falling to TCU. Wichita State is led by Haru Inoue, two-time All-MVC award winner, who plays primarily in the No. 1 singles spot, and Murkel Dellien,the Shockers' leading match-winner from last season, who primarily occupies the No. 2 spot.
The Gophers will then face Western Michigan on Sunday at 11 am to complete the weekend. The Broncos (4-5) won two matches against UIC and two matches against Ferris State, while losing their only ranked match-up against No. 9 Texas A&M. They will be looking for their first road win of the season during their trip to Baseline. The Broncos are led by Jannik Opetz in the No. 1 spot and Lenhard Haupt in the No. 2 spot.
LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota came out scot-free last weekend with two wins against Dartmouth and Marquette. After sweeping the Big Green 7-0, Minnesota had some struggles with Marquette, with Josip Krstanovic falling in the No. 1 spot, and Jackson Allen falling in the No. 3 spot. Eli Ogilvy also was pushed to a third set in the No. 5 spot.
GOPHERS IN THE RANKINGS
While the Gophers remain ranked No. 25 in the ITA rankings, the Tennis Channel ranked Minnesota No. 22 in their college tennis team rankings. Josip Krstanovic remains ranked No. 53 after at 6-2, 7-5 loss to Alvaro Verdu of Marquette and a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 over Charlie Broom of Dartmouth
