Gophers Set to Host Undefeated Pepperdine on Sunday
2/18/2020 4:43:00 PM | Men's Tennis
The Gopher men's tennis team will take on Pepperdine University on Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. CST this weekend.
Entering the match with a team record of 6-2, the Maroon & Gold ride a two-match win streak into Baseline Tennis Center, having won matches against Yale and UCSB by scores of 7-0. Led by senior Stefan Milicevic, who is coming off of a huge ranked win last Saturday against the former No. 8 ranked singles player in the nation, the Gophers are riding a lot of momentum into the end of their non conference schedule.
Pepperdine enters their match against the Gophers with a perfect 7-0 record on the season, with wins against UCSB and Washington highlighting their season so far. The Waves lineup will also feature a ranked singles player, with sophomore Corrado Summaria holding the No. 47 spot in ITA's singles rankings (this is subject to change, as ITA's singles rankings are set to be released tomorrow afternoon).
"Pepperdine has a very strong team with a rich history in college tennis," head coach Geoff Young said. "We're excited to host them Sunday in what will surely be a tight match."
