Gophers Celebrate Team Award Winners

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota track & field program handed out its annual team awards during the inaugural Gopher Track & Field Online Banquet on Sunday evening as the Maroon & Gold gathered together virtually to celebrate the 2019-20 campaign, which on March 12, 2020, when the Big Ten and NCAA announced they were ceasing competitions and championships because of COVID-19 public health concerns.
Despite the shortened indoor season and the canceled outdoor campaign, the Gophers had much to celebrate in 2020 with a Big Ten champion (Sammie Houston), two school records (Bethany Hasz and Sammie Houston) and eight All-Big Ten performances leading the way. Additionally, both genders finished the season in the USTFCCCA national rankings with the men coming in at No. 13 and the women finishing at No. 24.
