GENEVA, Ohio -- The Golden Gopher women are in first place behind three event titles while the men are second in the team standings through four events scored at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Thursday's event finals included weight throw, 3,000 meters, distance medley relay, and long jump for both genders.

Bethany Hasz won the 3,000 meters, Tess Keyzers won weight throw, and Anastasia Korzenowski, Val Larson, Libby Halbmaier, and Abby Kohut-Jackson won the distance medley relay to lead the Gopher women on day one at the B1G Championships. The Gophers also picked up seven points in long jump on the way to 37 points to lead the B1G team race on day one of three.
Hasz cruised to the 3,000-meter crown, kicking with two laps remaining on the 300-meter SPIRE Institute track, and clocked a winning time of 9:06.66, about six seconds ahead of runner-up Ericka VanderLende of Michigan (9:12.45). The win marked Minnesota's first-ever women's 3,000-meter B1G crown along with Hasz's first Big Ten indoor title and her second B1G title in the last month after she also won the Big Ten cross country title on January 30.
