Minnesota Prevails in Tight 4-3 Battle over Wisconsin

The Gophers come home for final weekend of the season next week
MADISON, Wisc. - The University of Minnesota men's tennis team secured a big Border Battle victory on Sunday afternoon, coming through in the clutch in singles play to secure the 4-3 win.
The Gophers will bounce to 8-6 on the year heading into the season finale weekend, while the Badgers will go to 4-11 after Sunday's loss.
Doubles Play
Doubles play proved to be very close throughout the majority of each of the three matches, however it was Wisconsin who secured the point by obtaining the slight edge in each of the finished matches.
Both Gopher pairings in Jackson Allen/Sebastian Vile and Vlad Lobak/Bodin Zarkovic fell by a score of 6-4 in their respective matches. Daniel Martin and Siim Troost were leading 5-4 in their match, however it would go unfinished.
Singles Play
Needing four victories in singles play to secure the match win, the Maroon & Gold achieved the feat in the narrowest of margins in a match that would come down to the tiebreaker.
The Gophers got on the board early with Jackson Allen and Daniel Martin winning in straight sets by scores of 7-5, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-3, respectively.
The Badgers would bounce back, however, with two victories of their own over Bodin Zarkovic and Sebastian Vile, but Siim Troost would answer back with a three-set victory to allow Vlad Lobak the opportunity to take the team win.
Lobak's match would be pushed to the third-set tiebreaker, and after some back-and-forth action for the deciding point, Lobak would clinch the match for the Gophers.
