Minnesota heads to Maryland next weekend for a three-game Big Ten series.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Minnesota baseball program suffered a 23-1 loss to Indiana on Sunday morning as the Maroon & Gold closed out this weekend's Big Ten series at Bart Kaufman Field.
Donald Sweeney led the way offensively for Minnesota with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate while Jack Wassel went 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and a walk.
After Minnesota (4-23) allowed 13 runs early to Indiana (18-8), the Gophers scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning when Brett Bateman knocked a lead-off single and came around to score later in the inning on a fielder's choice by Chase Stanke. The Maroon & Gold couldn't get any closer, as Indiana added 10 runs to its tally on the way to a 23-1 final.
Sophomore Trent Schoeberl (0-3) got the ball to start for Minnesota and took the loss while Ryan Duffy, Tom Skoro, Danny Kapala and Drake Davis also saw action on the mound. Gabe Bierman (3-2) earned the win for Indiana.

Minnesota returns to action next weekend with a three-game Big Ten series against Maryland in College Park, Md. The series starts on Friday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. CT, continues on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. CT and concludes on Sunday, May 2 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
