MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers track and field team will compete in both outdoor and indoor action this weekend across most of the country. The Minnesota men will run outdoors in California at the RCC Early Bird and the CSUN All-Comers while the women will travel to Ames, Iowa to the Iowa State Classic and Fayetteville, Ark., at the Tyson Invite. All of the action will range from Feb. 11-12.

WOMEN'S:

Last Time Out: Gopher Classic and Meyo Invite
The University of Minnesota track and field team continued its impressive indoor campaign last weekend at the Gopher Classic (Minneapolis, Minn.) and the Meyo Invite (South Bend, Ind.), picking up 17 total victories between the two meets. A pair of top 10 program marks were put down by Odell Frye (60m) and Abby Kohut-Jackson (3000m) along with a number of personal records. Kohut-Jackson's performance in the 3000m goes down as the No. 2 time in program history, where she already was sitting with her performance at the Wooo Pig Classic earlier this season. On Saturday the Huxley, Iowa, native dropped her lifetime best time in the event down to 9:04.07, almost six seconds (5.97) better than her previous time, to finish as the Meyo Invitational runner-up in the event. Winning the event was teammate Bethany Hasz, who was making her season-debut in the event after only appearing in the 5000m earlier this season. Back in Minneapolis Odell Frye dazzled Minnesota fans with a 7.38 time in the 60m final to win the Gopher Classic. The Waseca, Minn., native, who transferred in from Iowa Central Community College, put down a new lifetime best time to put her name at No. 4 on the Gophers all-time 60m dash list.

The Golden Gophers Ranked Nationally
Nearing the end of the indoor regular season, the Gophers currently have five different events ranked inside the top 20 nationally. Devia Brown is Minnesota's highest ranked individual at No. 11 in the shot put with her mark of 17.08m (56-0 1/2). The Maroon and Gold also have Allison Gerads (Pentathlon), Bethany Hasz (5000m/3000m) and Abby Kohut-Jackson (3000m) also ranked inside the top 20.

More Gophers Breaking into the Top 10
Another pair of program top 10 marks were set last weekend with Odell Frye and Abby Kohut-Jackson joining in on the fun this indoor season. On top of that duo, Minnesota's other recent top 10 marks have been posted by Jayla Campbell (400m, 54.58), Maja Maunsbach (60m hurdles, 8.53) and Nyalaam Jok (high jump, 1.78m).

Last Time at the Iowa State Classic
The last time the team competed at the Iowa State Classic was in 2019 when the team was led by Amira Young, amongst others. The Gophers wrapped up the meet with eight event titles, adding six crowns on day two with Hannah Morris (long jump) highlighting the second day of action. Other notable Gophers who ran quality times in 2019 that still are competing in 2022 are Megan Hasz (5000m) and Bethany Hasz (3000m).

MEN'S:

Starting with the RCC Early Bird in Riverside, Calif. on Fri., Feb. 11, the Gophers will then compete at the CSUN All-Comers meet in Northridge, Calif., on Sat., Feb. 12. Friday's meet will begin at 11 a.m. CT. Live results throughout the weekend in California are not available and will be posted after the meets conclude.

Up Next:
