2/15/2022 10:08:00 AM | Women's Swimming & Diving
MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 20 Minnesota women's swimming and diving program starts its postseason journey this week with the 2022 Big Ten Championships, Wednesday through Saturday, in Madison, Wis.
The Big Ten Championships will be streamed via BTN+ and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app (subscription required).
A daily schedule, plus streaming links, ticket information and more can be found at the Big Ten's Championships Central.
The Golden Gophers are coming off sixth-place finishes in each of the last two years at the Big Tens. All-time, Minnesota has won seven conference championships, including four in a row from 2012-15.
Individually, the Gophers have fared well in recent history, claiming 69 event titles since the 05-06 season. The most recent Gopher woman to claim an individual title was Sarah Bacon, who won the 3-meter in 2019. Bacon also claimed top honors on the 1-meter in 2018.
Minnesota, which went 4-4 in duals this year and 3-4 in conference action, recorded one NCAA 'A' cut and 24 'B' cuts during the regular season.
The 200 freestyle relay team of senior Olivia Bloomer, freshman Hannah Cornish, and juniors Maggie Summit and Grace Bennin matched the automatic qualifying mark and school record of 1:28.43 in the tri-dual against Northwestern and Iowa on Jan. 29.
In addition, four Gophers have secured multiple NCAA 'B' cuts this season.
Sophomore Megan Van Berkom has 'B' cuts in four different events: 500 Free (4:46.28), 200 Fly (1:54.15), 200 IM (1:56.48) and 400 IM (4:06.92). In fact, her 200 fly and 200 IM times set at the Minnesota Invite are both school records.
Along with her spot on the 200 free relay, Cornish has 'B' cuts in the 50 Free (22.41), 100 Free (48.77) and 200 Free (1:46.09).
Summit (50 Free and 100 Free) and fellow juniors Emma Lezer (100 Breast and 200 Breast) and Jordan McGinty (200 Free and 100 Fly) all have a pair of 'B' cuts.
On top of these swimming performances, six Gopher divers have notched scores high enough to qualify them for NCAA Diving Zones (March 7-9) in at least one event: Sarah Bacon, Susanna Fish, Kate LaMonica, Av Osero, Megan Phillip and Joy Zhu.
