Last Time Out: Rod McCravy Memorial/Jack Johnson Classic
It was yet another dominant weekend of action for the Golden Gopher track and field program at the Jack Johnson Classic and Rod McCravy Memorial meet on Friday and Saturday. As a collective group between the women's team and the unattached men's athletes 17 victories were earned along with a number of top 25 NCAA marks. On Friday the Gophers had a handful of student-athletes compete, just three in Minneapolis with more competing in Lexington, Ky. Minnesota's first victory of the weekend came in the form of Abigail Schaaffe in the 600m. Her 1:29.42 was good enough for the victory while Val Larson's 1:29.97 was just behind her for the runner-up finish. Starting Saturday off on the right foot for the Maroon and Gold was Nyalaam Jok, posting a new collegiate best high jump mark of 1.78m (5-10) to bring home the win. Her mark puts her in a tie for 22nd in the nation in the event and tied for fourth in the Big Ten. Although the performance did not result in a victory, the Golden Gophers put down a huge time in the 4x400m relay to conclude the meet in Kentucky. The squad of Jayla CampbellJanielle JosephsVal Larson and Abigail Schaaffe dropped a 3:38.48, the 13th-fastest time in the nation this year. The performance was good enough for the third-place finish and is the top time in the Big Ten in 2022.

The Golden Gophers Ranked Nationally
Although it is early in the indoor season, the Golden Gophers have already made a mark on the national indoor lists. Currently 10 Minnesota marks and times are ranked inside the nation's top 30. As of Jan. 26, Devia Brown's ninth-ranked shot put mark of 17.08m (56-0 1/2) is the highest ranked individual mark.

Gophers Breaking into the Top 10
So far this season 13 different program top 10 marks have been set by the women's track and field squad. The most recent performances came at the Rod McCravy Memorial and the Jack Johnson Classic. Jayla Campbell entered the top 10 list for the first time in the 400m with a time of 54.58 to take seventh at the Rod McCravy Memorial meet in Lexington, Ky. Freshman Maja Maunsbach also moved up the top 10 list with a time of 8.53 during the road meet last weekend. With a winning leap of 1.78m (5-10) freshman Nyalaam Jok moved into a tie for No. 4 in program history in the high jump.

Last Time at the Meyo Invite
The last time the Maroon and Gold competed at the Meyo Invite was In 2020. The Gopher women wrapped up the two-day meet with five event titles and eight all-time top-10 marks. Amira Young led the women with two event titles while Abby Kohut-Jackson and Janielle Josephs were also victorious on the track. Kohut-Jackson won the championship 3,000 meters in a career-best 9:20.38 to move into the then-sixth best time in Minnesota history. Likewise, Josephs also climbed to sixth among all-time Gophers with her winning time of 54.66 seconds in the unseeded section of the 400 meters. The Maroon & Gold went one-two in the women's 60 meters led by Young, who picked up her second title of the meet after winning the 200 meters on day one of the meet. Young posted a then-career-best time of 7.36 seconds -- good for the win and second among all-time Gophers.

Up Next: Iowa State Classic, Tyson Invite and The Showcase
The Gophers will be split up across three different meets during the weekend of Feb. 11-12. All three meets, which will be on the road, will be in different states. The Iowa State Claasic in Ames, Iowa, goes from Feb. 11-12, while the Tyson Invite in Fayetteville, Ark., will also go from Feb. 11-12. The Showcase at St. Thomas will begin and end on Feb. 11.
