IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Minnesota men's golf team wrapped up play at the Hawkeye Invitational, shooting a 299(+11) in the final round, bringing the tournament total to 883 (302-282-299--883). The Gophers performance at Finkbine Golf Course was enough to finish in a tie for sixth.
Leading the charge for Minnesota was junior Antoine Sale (76-69-73--219), who now has had back-to-back career high finishes in consecutive tournaments. Sale finished T-16th at last weekend's Boilermaker Invitational and followed that up with a T-15 finish this weekend. Sale's second round performance was the low-round of the weekend for Minnesota.
Senior Will Grevlos (77-79-74--230) and sophomore Ben Warian (76-70-74--220) followed closely behind Sale in today's final round, each shooting +2. Warian finished just outside the top-20 at T-22, while Grevlos had his best round of the tournament which included a 10-hole streak with no bogies.
Junior Connor Glynn (76-71-78--225) finished the tournament at +9. Glynn submitted one of the Gophers three rounds below par in the second round.
Sophomore Alex Eickhoff (73-73-82--228) and freshman Bennett Swavely (74-72-80--226) each had a tough finish in their third rounds, but both put out solid performances in the first two rounds.
