Gophers compete on campus to begin 2023-24
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota rowing team takes to the water for the first time in 2023-24 as it competes in the 43rd Annual Head of the Mississippi Regatta Saturday hosted by the Minneapolis Rowing Club.
The Golden Gophers launch the first race of the day at 9:30 a.m. in the collegiate 4+ and will send out a total of 11 boats during the competition.

"It's a great way to kick off the fall racing season on a beautiful course in front of the family, friends and fans of Gopher Rowing. Our athletes have been training hard at practice every day and are looking forward to putting on the uniform to race."
Gophers Announce Captains
Minnesota turns to a second-year captain and two new leaders for its trio of captains during the 2023-24 campaign. Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) returns after serving as a team captain a season ago, while Madeline Lange (St. Paul, Minn.) and Tallulah Sweet (St. Paul, Minn.) join the leadership group for the Maroon and Gold.
Early-Season Scrimmages
After the season-opening regatta along the Mississippi River, the Gophers compete against the Badgers of Wisconsin in a pair of scrimmages for their next two outings. Minnesota hosts its border rival at Medicine Lake Oct. 14 before making a return trip to Lake Mendota Nov. 4.
