The 18th-place finish is the second highest for Minnesota in 13 years.
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota sophomore Nyalaam Jok earned her first career First Team All-American finish on Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. in her debut at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Jok cleared a mark of 1.85m (6-0 3/4) to earn her sixth-place finish at the Albuquerque Convention Center, earning three team points for the Maroon and Gold who finished 18th overall as a team with 11 points. The Annandale, Minn., native was perfect through three heights to reach her second-highest mark of her indoor season. The First Team honor bests the sophomore's honorable mention distinction she earned as a true freshman last season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Jok was the first Gopher to ever qualify for the indoor championships in the high jump, and thus holds the program's top finish in the event indoors. Combined indoors and outdoors Jok's sixth-place finish is also the highest finish for any Gopher in the event.
