MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gopher track and field program posted seven event victories down in Tampa, Fla., at the USF Bulls Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The two-day meet began on Friday with the Golden Gophers getting outstanding performances in the field. First-year Gopher Austin Parsons won the men's javelin with a season-best mark of 67.88m, making him the third-best on Minnesota's all-time top 10 list.

Kostas Zaltos continued Minnesota's success early in Tampa with a victory in the men's hammer throw. His 70.66m (231-10) led the Gophers while Minnesota also had the fourth, sixth and eighth-place finishes in the event. The Maroon and Gold's final victory on Friday came in the form of Jak Urlacher in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 5.10m (16-8 3/4).

On Saturday the Maroon and Gold got started with a stellar performance from graduate student Jake Kubiatowicz in the men's discus. His mark of 56.44m (185-2) was good enough for the win and the No. 10 mark in school history. All-American Kaleb Siekmeier finished third in the event with a toss of 54.12m.

Another program top 10 performance on Saturday came from the Gophers' 4x100m relay team with Jaydon Antoine, Devin Augustine, Finn Schirmer and Kion Benjamin combining for the time of 40.06 which goes down as the sixth-best time in Minnesota history.

The women's team got a runner-up finish from its 4x100m relay team of Odell Frye, Lauren Hansen, Zariyah Black and Maja Maunsbach in a time of 45.33.

Nyalaam Jok, freshly off her indoor All-America finish, was the winner of the women's high jump. Jok's mark of 1.80m (5-10 3/4) was easily the best in the field.

A pair of Gophers on the straight away were able to drop some impressive times in Tampa. First year Gopher Michael Buchanan was the winner of the men's 110m hurdles in a time of 13.64 (+4.7 m/s) while Kion Benjamin was the runner-up in the 100m with a time of 10.17 (+3.2 m/s).
