Gophers to Host Running on Hope Meet, Travel to Drake Relays Thursday

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers track and field team is hosting the Running on Hope meet on Wednesday, April 26, at the University of Minnesota Track and Field Stadium. Minnesota will also be traveling to the 2023 Drake Relays from April 27-29 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Running on Hope meet is free and open to the public.
About the 2023 Running on Hope Meet
The meet on Wednesday is scheduled to begin as early as 11 a.m. in the field and at 2 p.m. on the track. Events will run through 8:05 p.m. CT with the 5000m concluding the meet. The Running on Hope meet will be streamed on B1G+ with both a field and track stream available. Those streams will not have broadcasters and will not have live results connected. Live results will be available via Results.WayzataTiming.com. The home meet on Wednesday is the first outdoor home meet for the Gophers since the 2022 Big Ten Outdoor Championships and it is the first regular season meet in Minneapolis since the M City Classic on May 1, 2021.
About the 2023 Drake Relays
The 113th Drake Relays will be contested in Des Moines, Iowa, and begin on Wednesday. The Maroon and Gold will begin their competition on Thursday with action starting as early as 4:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed via USATF.tv through a paid subscription. Live results will be available from Prime Time Timing (PTTiming.com).

Last Time Out: Buchanan, 4x100m Relay Break School Records, Again
The Maroon and Gold men continued to show why they have been a mainstay in the USTFCCCA Top 25 rankings this season in Baton Rouge. Michael Buchanan posted his third school record performance in the 110m hurdles (13.75) while also posting a strong mark in the long jump (7.45m). The 4x100m relay team posted another school record time in their own right with a blistering time of 39.15. That time as of April 25, is the No. 9 time in the country this season. Additionally Finn Schirmer (No. 8, 110m Hurdles), Carlon Hosten (No. 3, 200m) and Jake Kubiatowicz (No. 8, Hammer) all posted program top 10 times at the LSU Alumni Gold.
Women:
Last Time Out: Minnesota Continues Regular Season Push at LSU, Virginia
The University of Minnesota women's track team had a number of strong performances in Baton Rouge at the LSU Alumni Gold and at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville. Amira Young posted another strong time in the 100m (11.31) while Jayla Campbell nearly matched her lifetime best time in the 400m (53.11). Taylor Kreitinger posted the No. 6 mark in the Big Ten this season in the 3000m steeplechase while Nyalaam Jok tied her season-best high jump mark (1.80m).
The Gophers in the Rankings
The University of Minnesota men's track and field team's hammer group is still ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As an overall team the Maroon and Gold came in at No. 23 in the country.
