Ten Gophers Earn Academic All-District Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota track and field and cross country teams earned a total of 10 Academic All-District honors on Wednesday when the College Sports Communicators released their Academic All-District Men's Track & Field and Cross Country teams.
Headlined by Shelby Frank and Matthew Wilkinson, the University of Minnesota had five honorees on both the men's and women's side. Accompanying Wilkinson on the men's side was fellow captain Eli Hoeft along with Austin Parsons, Isaiah Schafer and Kaleb Siekmeier. Along with Frank on the women's side was Cross Country All-Region performer Emma Atkinson as well as Taylor Kreitinger, Maja Maunsbach and Erin Reidy.
Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution in order to be nominated for CSC Academic All-District and CSC Academic All-America. Nominees are voted on by CSC members throughout the year.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 28.
