Minnesota Earns Second Place Finish at Leadership & Golf Invitational

Curran and Loh pick up top-ten finishes
TACOMA, WA. - The University of Minnesota women's golf team wrapped up the Leadership & Golf Invitational with an impressive second-place finish in the 19-team field. Minnesota had two top-ten finishers in Curran and Loh, and collectively rolled home the second most birdies in the tournament. The team score of 283-285-300=868 (+4) is the seventh-lowest 54-hole score in school history.
Southern California held onto their lead and finished on top with a score of 276-285-276=837 (-27).

"We had a really rough start to the day today but battled back to secure second place. A runner up finish in this field is a huge step for our program" said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "We had solid play for all players this week and we continue to see different players step up when needed. We're looking forward to some rest before our final event."
Notable:
Graduate Grace Curran matched her career-best finish ending in a tie for sixth. She carded 13 birdies across the two days and finished with a total score of 67-76-72=215 (-1).
Hailey Loh's three-round score of 70-67-79=216 (E) helped her finish in a tie for 10th. This is Loh's first top-ten finish with the Gophers, coming in just her third tournament.
Isabella McCauley notched two birdies and nine pars in round three. McCauley finished in a tie for 27th with a three-round score of 72-71-77=220 (+4).
Sara Tomaszewski had her best round of the tournament shooting an even-par 72. She leaves the Leadership & Golf Invitational in a tie for 31st with a score of 74-75-72=221 (+5).
Megan Furtney, who competed as an individual, finished in a tie for 68th. She had the lowest par five average (4.50) amongst the 107 competitors and had a final score of 76-77-77=230 (+14).
Emma Carpenter tallied 24 pars and 11 birdies across the 54 holes at Chambers Bay Golf Course. The graduate finished in a tie for 71st, scoring 76-72-83=231 (+15) across the two days.

The Gophers will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational Oct. 2-4. This tournament will conclude the fall 2023 season.
