MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota women's track and field team is taking its talents to the 2024 Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The meet is being contested at the Dr. Worrill Indoor Track Facility and is by invitation only.

About the 2024 Windy City Invitational
The two-day meet begins on Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's and women's long jump while the track events will start at 1:30 p.m. with the 60m hurdles. Saturday's action starts at 11:30 a.m. with the pole vault while track events start at 12 p.m. The meet will not be streamed but live results will be available via AdkinsTrak.com. The meet will feature a total of seven Big Ten teams while Oklahoma, Notre Dame, USF, Howard, Loyola Chicago, Tulsa, Air Force, DePaul and Northern Illinois will also compete in Chicago.

LAST TIME OUT
For the first time in 18 years, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have a new school record holder in the women's 800m. Brooke Jaworski broke Heather Dorniden's 2006 record in the event at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., while two other Gophers posted top-12 national performances on Saturday both at Notre Dame and at the Gopher Classic in Minneapolis.

Alongside Jaworski, Shelby Frank and Maja Maunsbach had standout performances on Saturday with Frank's coming back in the Twin Cities at the 2024 Gopher Classic. Frank's mark came on her final attempt of the competition with the senior's 24.09m (79-0 1/2) moving her to No. 2 on the national lists and was just two inches shy of her lifetime best she posted last year at the NCAA Indoor Championships to finish as the NCAA runner-up. For Maunsbach, the Sweedish national posted a lifetime best of 8.18 to claim the 60m hurdles title at the Meyo Invitational. Maunsbach had matched her previous lifetime best of 8.26 in the preliminary heats and followed it up with the 8.18 time that puts her at 12th in the NCAA this year and third in the Big Ten Conference.

JAWORSKI, FRANK SWEEP BIG TEN WEEKLY HONORS
University of Minnesota women's track and field has earned a sweep of the Big Ten's weekly awards with Brooke Jaworski and Shelby Frank earning the distinctions for the work on the track and in the field last weekend. The conference office announced the honors on Wednesday with the sweep being the second straight season the Maroon and Gold have swept the weekly awards indoors

IN THE RANKINGS
Minnesota currently stands at the No. 22 spot overall in the nation in the latest USTFCCCA women's rankings. The first Event Squad rankings also dropped this week with the women's weight throw the top group at No. 3 overall with an average throw of 20.52m (67-4). Minnesota's 60m hurdles crew also was in the top 10 while the 800m, 5000m, high jump and pentathlon groups were all inside the nation's top 15.
