Minnesota Goes to LSU and Concordia St. Paul This Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers track and field program will send athletes to both the LSU Alumni Gold Meet (Baton Rouge, La.) and the Holst Invitational (Concondia St. Paul).
ABOUT THE LSU ALUMNI GOLD MEET
The LSU Alumni Gold Meet at Bernie Moore Stadium starts at 10 a.m. central time with the women's hammer throw. Field events go until 4 p.m., when the day concludes with the men's and women's javelin throws. The running events begin at 12:30 p.m. with both the men's and women's 4x100 meter relay races. The afternoon concludes with the men's and women's 1600 meter relays at 4:45 p.m.
There will be no stream available for the meet but live results can be found at GopherSports.com.
ABOUT THE HOLST INVITATIONAL
The Holst Invitational will take place at SeaFoam Stadium beginning with field events at 10 a.m. The day will start with the hammer throw, javelin and long jump. It ends with the discus throw at 2:30 p.m. Running events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's 1000 meter run.
Fans will be able to follow on live stream at the NSIC Network while GopherSports.com will provide the live results.
LAST TIME OUT
The Minnesota track and field program competed at both the Bethel Invitational and the Bryan Clay Invitational (at Azusa Pacific University). The two teams combined for multiple personal-bests and one top-10 finish in program laurels. At the Bryan Clay Invitational on the men's side, Daniel VanAcker started out the action on Thursday when he posted a time of 8:51.18 in the 3,000 steeplechase, a new personal-best. He finished fourth in the event. Leo Goodman (3:46.95) placed 20th in the men's 1500m run and hit a PR.
For the women's team, Zoie Dundon placed 12th in the women's 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:57.44, a career-best and the fourth-best time in school history. Erin Reidy set a personal-best in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:21.23, taking home a heat win, Freshman Ali Weimer took 12th in her heat in the women's 5,000 meter run with a personal-best time of 16:30.20. Emma Atkinson took seventh in her heat of the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:31.31, a personal-best. Elsa Bergman placed 25th in the event with a time of 17:05.01.
Minnesota also sent several student-athletes to the Bethel Invitational Saturday. On the women's side, Kennedy Martinson took home the 100 meter hurdles title with a time of 13.77, which is a personal-best and is the seventh best mark in school history. Ellie Kuechle won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.38 while Hailey Anchor went 1:04.76 to finish second. In the 800 meter, Delia Johnson, Charlotte Lange and Kennedy Martinson all finished in the top seven. Isabelle Schmidt won the women's shot put with a throw of 14.04 meters. Hadley Streit took first (56.81 meters) while Ella Pavlovich (51.83 meters) placed second in the hammer throw.
On the men's side, Dante White took third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.66. Emmett Gerres won the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:53.93 while Cameron Stocke (3:59.17) and Samuel Fish (4:00.67) placed second and third. Senior Michael Buchanon won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.01. In the field events, Dante White won the men's long jump with a distance of 6.92 meters while Hakeem Ford placed third (6.54 meters). Jordan Dunigan finished second in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.34 meters. He also took sixth in the discus throw (44.87 meters).
MINNESOTA IN THE RANKINGS
The USTFCCCA released its fourth rankings of the outdoor season on Tuesday with the Maroon and Gold being inside the top 40 on both the men's and women's side. The Minnesota women's team rose one spot from No. 38 to 37 this week. The men's program came in at No. 30.
GOPHERS COLLECT WEEKLY AWARDS ON APRIL 10
Minnesota collected both weekly men's B1G awards on April 10, as Devin Augustine won the Big Ten Men's Track Athlete of the Week while Charles Godfred took home Big Ten Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Augustine put together an impressive weekend in the sprints as he set a school record in the 200m, posting a second-place result of 20.37 seconds. That was the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA this spring and topped the school record by 0.7 seconds. He followed up that performance by nearly breaking another record Saturday in the 100m. The junior won the race with a personal-best time of 10.08 seconds, just 0.01 off the Gophers' all-time mark, and was the top time by anyone in the Big Ten Conference this season.
Godfred continued to shine in his freshman campaign and broke a 29-year-old school record in the long jump by nearly three full inches Friday at the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Texas A&M. The native of Nigeria leaped 8.19m (26-10.5) to place second in the event with the nation's second-best jump of the year.
