MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota's women finished as the runner-up while the men's team finished third at the 39th Roy Griak Invitational at Les Bolstad Golf Course. Redshirt freshman Nolan Sutter was fifth overall on the men's side while the top runner in uniform on the women's side was redshirt sophomore Taylor Isabel, who was sixth. Ali Weimer, running unattached, was the meet's returning champion on the women's side and finished as the 2025 runner-up despite running eight seconds faster this year.
North Dakota's Jadyn Keeler was the women's 6K champion (20:57.3) while Wyoming's Jacob White (24:39.8) claimed the men's 8K title. The men's team champion was No. 16 Cal Baptist with 39 points while Wyoming was second (54 points) and Minnesota was third (67 points). The Division I results on the women's side saw Cal Baptist win with 25 total team points while No. 20 Minnesota's 45 was good enough for second and North Dakota's 105 points had them in third.
Isabel was the top finisher among Minnesota's scoring lineup (5-7-9-11-13) in a time of 21:53.5, which improved her previous Griak lifetime best by 60 seconds. Isabel's sixth-place finish also improved her from 51st a season ago. Izzy Roemer improved from 19th at the Griak a season ago to eighth overall this year in a lifetime best time of 21:56.1, which shaved off 12 seconds from 2024.
True freshman Norah Hushagen made her debut in uniform with a nice performance. Hushagen's 22:11.4 was good enough for 10th overall and third among Minnesota's lineup. After missing the Griak in 2024, Isabelle Schmitz came across her first collegiate Griak in 12th overall in a time of 22:13.0. Nadia Phillips rounded out Minnesota's scoring lineup with a 22-second improvement on her 2024 Griak time to cross the finish at 22:13.4 for 13th overall.
Minnesota's men finished third overall as a team, the program's second straight third-place finish at the event. Sutter was the team's leader at fifth, clocking a 25:07.3 to finish fifth. Fellow redshirt freshman Sam Scott was the second runner to cross the line for the men, putting forth a time of 25:34.8 to finish his first collegiate Griak in 15th. Just behind Scott was Aloysius Franzen (25:35.5), Emmet Anderson (25:37.0) and Shane Greipentrog (25:41.9) in 15th, 17th and 18th.
