Men's Tennis Open Spring Dual Season Against DePaul, Green Bay
1/18/2019 1:36:00 PM | Men's Tennis
The University of Minnesota Men's Tennis Team opens up the Spring Dual season at home on Saturday, facing DePaul at noon and Green Bay at 5 pm.
As usual, Minnesota will host their matches at the Baseline Tennis Center for the season. The Gophers look to build upon last season's successful Sweet 16 run, and quality individual performances during the fall season.
The Gophers will be led by junior Stefan Milicevic, who participated in the ITA All-American Singles Tournament and the Oracle ITA Master's Tournament in the fall. Milicevic also reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regionals Tournament. Milicevic primarily played in the third singles slot last year behind now-graduated one and two singles Felix Corwin and Matic Spec.
Senior Josip Krstanovic and sophomore Jackson Allen will also look to build on their successful fall seasons. Krstanovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional before falling to the eventual champion, while Allen advanced to the semifinals. Both were primarily used in the five and six singles pot, while Krstanovic was a mainstay in the doubles competitions as well.
Minnesota will take on DePaul first out of the gates at noon. DePaul, who plays in the Big East, went 17-10 last season, and advanced to the semifinals of their conference tournament.
At 5 pm, Minnesota will take on Green Bay, who went 12-10 last season.
Minnesota went 3-1 at home during their non-conference schedule, and hosts a total of eight non-conference duals this season.
