Gophers head to Palo Alto for ITA Kick-Off Weekend
1/25/2019 5:10:00 PM | Men's Tennis
PALO ALTO, CALIF. - After a sweet 2-0 start to the season at home, the University of Minnesota Men's Tennis team will hit the road for sunny Palo Alto, Calif. to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, hosted by Stanford University.
Minnesota will take on Oregon Saturday at 1 pm, and, depending on their result, will face either UCF or No. 10 Stanford on Sunday, time to be determined.
Minnesota (2-0) saw early success with senior Josip Krstanovic heading up the lineup, followed by junior Stefan Milicevic and sophomore Jackson Allen in the lineup. Minnesota did not drop a single doubles or singles match against Green Bay or DePaul in their first weekend of the spring season at home.
Oregon (2-0) started their season with two 7-0 sweeps just like Minnesota, defeating both Idaho and Seattle U at home in their last times out. Oregon features atop-heavy lineup, led by No.5 ranked Thomas Laurent and No. 99 Emmanuel Coste.
However, the top of the Gophers lineup is no stranger to defeating ranked opponents. Allen defeated No. 16 Jake Van Emburgh of Oklahoma during the fall season, while also earning two ranked wins at the conclusion of last years spring season. Milicevic, a former ranked player himself, earned two ranked wins last season for Minnesota.
Live scoring is not available for this weekend, but will be available via our Twitter or on GopherSports.com.
